The Top 12 Hyper Casual Games (June 2020)

After our first Friday break this year, June see’s a ton of new releases to catch up on.

It was great to see so many new hyper casual games this month including our Academy Game of the Month, Stack Colors, and the super close second place, Cube Surfer, now topping the charts at No.1 and No.2 respectively.

This is one of the things I love the most about Academy Live, we get to pick out the early releases that have huge potential. Smashed it!

Table of Contents

What’s New this month

Both Stack Colors and Cube Surfer use “stacking” as their primary game mechanic and, as I’ve said a few times lately, there’s room for more innovation, so think about what game you can make:

– Stacking Boxes / Pizza’s / Tin Cans / Cups?
– Stacking Zen Stones?
– Stacking Palettes with a Vehicle?
– Stacking Jenga Blocks?

You get the idea 🙂

A neat and simple hyper casual puzzler in the form of Pong Toss 3D was released this month. This comes from the relatively unknown Tokyo Smart Games,  they’ve seen previous recent success with Mix Colors & the vote from the Live chat was overwhelmingly positive.

Let’s see if this makes an appearance in the charts over the next few weeks, but either way, it’s well worth checking out.

Overall, it was a SayGames LLC month here inside the Academy as we geek out on 4, yes 4 new games from SayGames LLC.

To say I’m a fan would be a slight understatement.

I’m a fan boy and it’s official.

Why you say?

It’s actually quite simple, consistent overall production quality in their hyper casual games. Whilst I could literally bang on about each one of these games all day long, I’m sure I convinced Academy Members who watched our record breaking 2 hour Live Show, and converted them too.

If you’ve not played any of their games yet I’d highly recommend doing so. Take a leaf out of their book and get a masterclass in hyper casual games UI and UX.

The rise in the shooting genre continues also so if you have any ideas for a shooting game you’ve been sitting on, now would be a very good time to get executing!

Or should I say… Pull the trigger on your idea, badum tish! XD

The rise of the Mini games

These are the games that contain many various mechanics usually centred around a core theme., founded by former Ketchapp CRO and Advisor, Christian Calderon, have really embraced this model with titles such as Food Games 3d, Toilet Games 3D, Date The Girl 3D and more.

Essentially it’s their whole strategy, and whilst I’m not a huge fan of the quality, their success in undeniable.

You can also checkout Suji Games who also use this formula to great success with titles such as Hypermarket 3D, Hyper School and fresh out the gate, Hyper Hotel.

I’m just wondering if you have a ton of small prototypes, perhaps bundling them together and trying your luck wouldn’t be such a silly idea?

Be sure to checkout Money Buster! by Alictus too, it’s their take on this “Mini Game” formula. This is super interesting with good quality and varied mechanics.

We saw Mr Beast’s “Finger on the App” taking over the NO.1 spot this month only to be knocked off by the strange but ever sticky Randonautica.

Here’s the Gist of Randonautica in a nutshell:

“In essence, Randonautica is an app that encourages you to get out and explore your local area. It does this by giving you a randomised set of coordinates and asks you to go out with a purpose in mind. This can be anything big or small, like finding something unexpected or the answer to something that’s been bugging you.

Once you return from your trip, you are encouraged to share what you stumbled across on the game’s forum, on Reddit or on the ever popular TikTok App.

Some people have stumbled across spooky coincidences, which has helped the app gain traction.”

Anyways, if you want to know more, and all its’ quantum number generated madness, Doctor Google will help you out for sure.

Some incredible hyper casual games to play this month and here’s the full list with links.
